Anonymous asked: Got my septum done a few months ago and I want to change the bar because it's too big for my wee nose. It's a horseshoe bar and I have no idea which side unscrews and theyre way too tight to unscrew with my fingers. To make things worse, I can't get to a piercing shop to get it loosened. Wah how do I undo it :(

Both balls should undo, righty-tighy/lefty-loosy!

Try to grip it with some papertowel (to get more traction) and try to undo one of the balls at a time. I like to pretend I’m opening a coke bottle, that way even in the mirror you won’t do it the wrong way.

Worst case, I would suggest to find ANY piercing shops even close to you (there would have to be at least one!) and get them to help out with some hemostats.

This awesome cupcake dermal anchor project was done over a number of sittings during the last few months. There are 33 in total and we did them in 8 sittings, around 2-3 weeks apart.Super stoked to FINALLY get a picture of them all changed and settled in!If you are wondering, the ‘sprinkle’ (rectangle) pieces were custom made by first cutting down a round disc and then anodizing them. Lots of fun!Piercings by: Joeltron.com and Kylie Garth - Firstblood.com.au

Anonymous asked: Hey Joel I'm looking to start a sleeve but I have some mild acne on the tops of my arms/shoulders, im just wondering will this affect the tattoo healing and end result at all? I've done some research but couldn't find a clear answer to my question

Depending on the severity of the acne, it could cause the tattoo to heal quite slowly and result in a poor looking tattoo.

Whenever you have a rash or any form of skin disorder, the skin is filled with a large amount of blood supply to repair the damaged skin. This can result in the tattoo bleeding significantly more than normal during the tattoo (causing the ink to come out) and it can take up to 3 times longer to heal.

I would suggest to talk to a dermatalogist first to get your skin under control before you get the tattoo done. If it is only a very mild case, you could risk it and most likely need some touch-ups after a month or so.

Best to consult your artist and let them see your skin in person to see exactly how problematic it could be.

idrvdaforkliftwithmattnicholls asked: Is there a way to check for tongue veins yourself or is it best for a piercer to check?

No matter what your vein structure, a good professional piercer can work out the correct placement for one or multiple tongue piercings. Best to go see your piercer. :)

“Abstract Noir: Its dark, and its abstract..hence the name…..draw from the child with in, from the thoughts that make no sense.

Kawaii Noir, or “dark kawaii” is a variation that describes things that are cute but have a slightly sinister quality to them.

I love it..ill cuddle you..then eat you….its just so well real.” - Ran

gentleswastika asked: I was curious about something that you said earlier Joel and i was wondering if you could give me a run down on it. you did say wood was okay to stretch with when properly oiled and made sure not to get poisonous woods right? or am i mistaken. if it is then could you give me some info on it and how to do it properly?

Correctamondo! Wood=good.

I have used wood for most of my stretching, the key is to not do too big jumps. Do more smaller jumps and not only will it be healthier, but also quicker than big ones! No more than a 2mm jump for larger sizes (over an inch) or 1mm for smaller sizes.

When I get a new set of wood, I leave it in a snap-lock bag with extra-virgin olive oil (because its cheap) overnight. In the morning I oil up my ears with either Emu Oil or Jojoba oil for around 5-10 minutes and then pop the new ones in.

I normally find that they just slip right in when oiled enough and massaging before hand really helps with elasticity.

You should oil every single day for at least a couple minutes to keep them healthy and loosy-goosy.

Listen to your body. If your lobes are sore or tight, you aren’t ready to go up. If they are comfy and have gape, jump up a mm or two. I used to go up 2mm every month with ease.
